This zany and capricious comedian has soared to the pinnacle of comedic success in the almost ten years since becoming the anchor of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, harvesting a witty and satirical style that the American public has come to cherish (on both sides of the political aisle!). Stewart’s impressive ascension within the ranks of stand-up comics is a testament to the evolution and maturation of the tastes of comedy-consumers across the nation, proving that a vast swath of the public is capable of appreciating the humor of someone who, beyond making fun of himself in his ever-so-self-deprecating style, has shown no mercy for clumsy politicians and celebrities no matter how popular they may be!
From his upbringing in a Jewish household in New Jersey to his graduation from the College of William and Mary, Virginia, it must have been pretty obvious for friends and family that Stewart was drifting toward a career in comedy, and not sports; despite playing some soccer in college and being a baseball fan, his petite stature surely must have prevented him from rising to the major leagues.
